Benefis Health System in Great Falls, Mont., is beginning a $12.5 million emergency room expansion project to create more space for family members to be near patients, according to a KFBB report.
The hospital will increase the number of ER rooms from 18 to 30, said Kevin Langkit, the hospital's director for emergency and critical care services. The hospital sees approximately 34,000 patients on average each year.
The emergency department will remain open during construction, Mr. Langkit said.
The project is anticipated to be completed by December and patients will start being seen in January 2019.
