Environmental, social and governance investment group Arjuna Capital is claiming a win after CVS Health committed to strengthening its reproductive health data privacy protections following a shareholder proposal from the activist investment group.
Arjuna filed the request after the Supreme Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which ended the constitutional right to an abortion in the U.S. CVS collects sensitive information on over-the-counter reproductive health medications, such as the emergency contraceptive Plan B.
The activist investment group filed seven shareholder proposals with CVS focusing on protecting reproductive health data, according to a March 28 Arjuna news release.
"CVS is taking the steps necessary to protect its customers' privacy and data in a post-Dobbs world," Natasha Lamb, managing partner at Arjuna Capital, said in the release. "It's clear that threats to women's privacy are also a threat to CVS's business, brand, and investors."
