Amazon among companies warned by the FDA for selling unapproved drugs for mole, skin tag removal

The FDA issued a warning to three companies Aug. 9 for selling unapproved new drugs for mole and skin tag removal.

The warnings come after Amazon, Ariella Naturals and Justified Laboratories sold mole and skin tag removal products. The FDA said there are no FDA-approved over-the-counter drug products for treating moles or skin tags.

In the warning, the FDA said the products that are being sold by these companies claiming to help remove these lesions are potentially dangerous and may contain high concentrations of salicylic acid or other harmful ingredients.

The warning letters alert the companies that the failure to adequately address the violations may result in legal action. The FDA said the companies have 15 days to respond telling them how they have addressed any violations.
