University Hospitals partnered with pregnancy monitoring app Babyscripts to offer virtual care for expectant mothers throughout their pregnancy and postpartum, the Cleveland-based health system said July 13.
Babyscripts's virtual care platform allows OB-GYNs to direct patients along a more comprehensive and cohesive prenatal and postpartum care journey. University Hospitals patients who are expectant mothers will have access to the myJourney app — which offers them pregnancy monitoring services, educational content and daily guidelines approved by their caregiver — through their child's first birthday.
"Data tells us that it was more dangerous to give birth in 2019 than it was in 1999, particularly for Black women. Healthcare cannot be excellent if it is not equitable," Nancy Cossler, MD, University Hospitals' chief of system quality for its obstetrics division. "It is our hope that through this advanced technology and remote monitoring, adverse outcomes can be prevented and ultimately save the lives of mothers across our region."
