Google sister company Verily to acquire health IT platform

Verily, Google's sister company and a subsidiary of Alphabet, has entered into an agreement to acquire SignalPath, a clinical trial management system.

Three notes:

  1. Verily's existing clinical trial system, known as Baseline, has more than 500,000 people who are interested in participating in clinical research, according to an Aug. 17 news release. Baseline matches interested people with research opportunities that fit their profiles.

  2. SignalPath's platform helps research sites improve costs while mitigating the complexities and time associated with trials. With Verily, SignalPath will provide clinical research sites with a portfolio of resources.

  3. SignalPath employees will join Verily at the time of closing. They will maintain their physical presence in Raleigh, N.C., increasing Verily's geographic footprint with this new location in North Carolina, the news release said.
