Cleveland's University Hospitals improves ICU patient monitoring

Cleveland-based University Hospitals has implemented a real-time surveillance technology system to facilitate ICU patient-monitoring during the pandemic.

The health system implemented the ACG-Remote mobile technology from Talis Clinical as well as evidence-based clinical protocols developed internally to monitor ICU patients remotely. UH is the first health system to implement the ACG-Remote View ICU, which is accessible through any mobile device. It has implemented the system with a few of its hospitals and plans to scale deployment in the next several months.

"With the technology developed by Talis and the evidence-based clinical protocols developed by UH, we can link ICU data capturing patient monitor waveforms, ventilator waveforms, EMR details and updated lab values to better enable standards across our health system," said Dan Simon, University Hospitals chief clinical and scientific officer and medical center president.. "Additionally, in a COVID-care environment, this mobile-enabled platform allows us to quickly stand up a remote-monitoring command center, which reduces clinician virus exposure, preserves PPE and optimizes our resources."
