9 latest hospital, health system digital transformation pilot programs

Hospitals and health systems across the U.S. are pushing forward digital transformation efforts by creating new tools and launching innovative programs. 

Here are the organizations that announced pilots of new innovation programs or expansions to existing programs during April and May, as reported by Becker's Hospital Review.

1. Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital will pilot AstraZeneca's new disease management platform to study how digital tools can improve patient engagement and care team coordination. 

2. UPMC and Advocate Aurora Health joined Moving Health Home, a new healthcare coalition founded by Amazon Care, Intermountain and Ascension.

3. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic launched two new companies to support its newly developed Remote Diagnostics and Management Platform, which connects data with artificial intelligence technologies for clinical decision support.

4. Northwell Health and Pear Therapeutics linked up to allow patients seeking treatment for opioid and substance misuse to have access to prescription digital therapy.

5. Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System partnered with Google Cloud and Miracle Software Systems to launch an international competition in Detroit to propose ideas for reducing health inequalities using technology. 

6. Shriners Hospitals for Children and Georgia Institute of Technology expanded their health innovation collaboration to include initiatives for precision medicine and big data research programs. 

7. Wellstar Health System established a new digital health and innovation center focused on initiatives to improve health equity, aging and children, and sustainability, the Marietta, Ga.-based health system announced. 

8. Banner Health is launching a new digital health program with Xealth to scale digital therapeutics and remote monitoring services across the Phoenix-based health system and its Cerner EHR. 

9. New York City-based NYU Langone Health is launching an at-home virtual brain stimulation tool for patients to treat a range of cognitive, motor, speech or mood symptoms that occur from neurological or psychiatric conditions.
