WhatsApp, the Meta-owned instant messaging company, launched a Spanish and English language chatbot to help spread reliable information about COVID-19 and the safety of its vaccines.
WhatsApp partnered with the California Department of Public Health, to launch a free chatbot tool intended to help combat COVID-19 misinformation, particularly in the state's Latino community, according to an April 21 press release. The chatbot can also help users access information for booking vaccination appointments and obtaining vaccination records.
California is the first state to try out a tool of this kind.
The chatbot is a part of the state's efforts to combat misinformation surrounding COVID-19.
