More than 65 percent of consumers turn to online search engines when looking for a new healthcare provider, according to a December Press Ganey research report.
For its Consumer Experience Trends in Healthcare 2021 report, Press Ganey surveyed more than 1,000 U.S. adults to get an understanding of the state of consumer preferences and expectations for healthcare.
Online search dominates the start of the patient healthcare journey, with 51.1 percent of consumers turning to the web when choosing a new primary care provider, according to the report.
Here are the top five websites patients use to find healthcare providers, according to the report.
- Google: 78.1 percent
- Hospital/clinic website: 36.3 percent
- Web MD: 26.8 percent
- Healthgrades: 22.3 percent
- Facebook: 19.5 percent
