Mayo physicians to perform on live broadcast to raise funds for plasma research, COVID-19 treatments

Mayo Clinic's Elvis Francois, MD, and William A. Robinson, MD, PhD, will sing a rendition of "God Bless America" during NBC's "Indy 500 Special: Back Home Again" broadcast May 24 to honor front-line healthcare workers and raise awareness about plasma donation.

The duo, dubbed "singing surgeons," will perform a tribute to honor healthcare employees and spread information about The Fight Is In Us, a new campaign encouraging COVID-19 survivors to donate their plasma for research on new treatments.

"Despite the current hardships, there is definitely reason for optimism, and we hope that our rendition of 'God Bless America' will reflect this mindset." Dr. Robinson said in a news release.
