Health system buys transit station naming rights for $2.9M

University of Miami Health System bought the naming rights to a Miami transit station for $2.9 million over 20 years, Miami Today reported.

The Civic Center Metrorail Station will be known as UHealth Jackson Station beginning July 1, according to the June 11 story. The transit center connects University of Miami School of Medicine to university affiliate Jackson Memorial Hospital. The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the deal.

UHealth will pay to update wayfinding signs with the station's new name and install high-resolution digital displays on walls and kiosks that will feature "informative content, branding, and engagement material for transit riders passing through the station," the news outlet reported.
