UChicago Medicine inks deal with UPMC startup

University of Chicago Medicine has inked a deal to use the Pip Care digital surgical platform developed by Pittsburgh-based UPMC.

Pip Care launched in October 2022 as the first company formed through the partnership between UPMC Enterprise, the health system's innovation arm, and startup builder Redesign Health. The platform offers personalized programs for surgical patients and connects them with certified health coaches for care navigation and coordination.

"Our physicians join our team because they are passionate about leveraging tools to deliver the most innovative and personalized care and best outcomes possible to our patients," said Jon Brickman, vice president of perioperative and procedural services at UChicago Medicine, in an Oct. 4 news release shared with Becker's. "Working with Pip Care aligns with this mission and benefits our patients, health systems and community."

UChicago Medicine will start piloting the technology later this year.
