Good Samaritan launches virtual breastfeeding care

San Jose, Calif.-based Good Samaritan Hospital, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, is implementing virtual breastfeeding support through a new partnership with Nest Collaborative, a virtual consultation platform.

Patients will be able to access telehealth services through a mobile phone or computer to help augment lactation support services at Good Samaritan, according to an April 26 Nest Collaborative news release shared with Becker's.

"Families who give birth at Good Samaritan Hospital now have access to additional, evidence-based breastfeeding support both prenatally and when they leave the hospital to return home with their newborn," Kelli Wray, DNP, chief nursing officer of Good Samaritan Hospital, said in the release. "Parents will be able to make same-day, telehealth appointments with Nest Collaborative's team of IBCLCs [international board certified lactation consultants] who can provide the expert guidance in the first days when breastfeeding can be the most challenging. They will also be a critical lifeline for parents of babies staying in our neonatal intensive care unit."
