Gary Loveman, formerly Aetna's president of consumer health, is now co-founder, chairman and CEO of Well Dot, a startup that launched this month and offers an artificial intelligence platform to improve employees' engagement with their health.
The Well platform, intended for employers to include in their employee benefit offerings, uses AI to analyze clinical and consumer data, then leverages that analysis to engage members in achieving customized health goals. Members can access digital tools and a team of health experts for additional on-demand support.
Well Dot, which is based in Chapel Hill, N.C., and Newton, Mass., launched with $25 million in seed funding from several investors, including the venture arm of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina.
"We are unique in the way we are empowering and incenting individuals to engage in their health by leveraging data, technology and a high-touch delivery approach," Mr. Loveman said in a statement. "We are now bringing a service to market that employs analytics, clinical data, medical experience and dynamic incentives to improve employee health and lower costs."
After leaving his post at Healthagen, Aetna's consumer health and services business, in early 2018, Mr. Loveman was tapped in September 2019 to join the board of directors for diagnostic device startup Healthy.io.
