Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple in Texas recently rolled out THA Smart Ribbon, a product developed by the Texas Hospital Association, the association announced Jan. 10.
The THA Smart Ribbon program displays a ribbon image over a hospital's EMR, which draws out relevant information about patient medications, labs and radiology services from connected data feeds. The goal of the program is to inform patient care by providing physicians with real-time cost and risk data for each patient.
The ribbon image also shows physicians how they compare to their peers regarding spending per case.
"The benefit of an integrated delivery system with our EMR has allowed us to reduce unnecessary testing and care, which ultimately benefits the patients and lowers healthcare costs overall," said Stephen Sibbitt, MD, CMO of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple.
