Cybersecurity threats to the United States are increasing from countries including Russia, Iran and North Korea, FBI Director Christopher Wray said, according to CNN.
The public and private sectors have been working together to combat cyberthreats such as the spread of false information on social media sites, Mr. Wray said while presenting at the RSA cybersecurity conference in San Francisco March 5, according to CNN.
Mr. Wray said the U.S. is facing cyber threats "unlike anything we have had in our lifetimes," referencing the increase in threats from other countries. He also touched on the continued use of foreign social media campaigns aimed at turning Americans against one another, according to the report.
The healthcare industry has also dealt with threats of the spread of misinformation, most recently the growing anti-vaccination trend that has taken up residence on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest. The companies have each introduced measures to block and reduce the spread of misinformation.
