Ipswich Hospital in England reportedly disciplined two staff members who accessed Ed Sheeran's patient information without a legitimate reason, according to the BBC.
The English singer-songwriter was admitted to the hospital in October 2017 after breaking his right wrist and left elbow in a bicycle accident, he wrote in an Instagram post at the time. The injuries led Mr. Sheeran to cancel a number of dates from the Asian leg of his tour.
In response to the BBC's Freedom of Information request, Ipswich Hospital officials specified two staff members "accessed patient information without legitimate or clinical reason" following Mr. Sheeran's hospital visit.
Ipswich Hospital reportedly fired an administrative employee involved in the incident. The hospital gave the other employee, a medical staff member, a written warning.
In April, the BBC reported Ipswich Hospital had launched a review of the quality of care provided to "high profile" patients during the month after Mr. Sheeran's visit. A hospital spokesperson told the publication the review covered "confidentiality, privacy of the patient and their loved ones, and practical considerations."
