Sens. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Gary Peters, D-Miss., introduced new legislation that would require the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to develop a rural hospital protection strategy.
The legislation would require the Department of Homeland Security to develop a cybersecurity workforce plan for rural hospitals, according to the bill introduced into the Senate May 11.
The strategy outlined in the bill focuses on "partnerships between rural hospitals, educational institutions, private sector entities, and nonprofit organizations to develop, promote, and expand cybersecurity education and training programs tailored to the needs of rural hospitals."
