Russian hacking group 'KillNet' targets US healthcare

The HHS Cybersecurity Coordination Center is warning U.S. healthcare providers of the Russian hacking group Killnet, known to target hospitals with DDoS attacks, SCMedia reported Dec. 22.

The group is thought to have official connections to the Russian government with ties to the Federal Security Service or the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, according to the report.

Previously, the group had targeted European countries deemed hostile to Russia. However, the Russian war on Ukraine has caused the group to broaden its reach to all NATO countries.

Earlier this month, KillNet claimed it has compromised a U.S.-based healthcare organization that supports U.S. military members.
