Ransomware gang claims it hacked Maine hospital

A ransomware group claimed that it stole 10 gigabytes of data from a Maine hospital, databreaches.net reported.

Cybercriminal gang RansomHub posted on its dark web data leak site July 25 that it hacked Millinocket Regional Hospital, according to the Aug. 5 report. The listing has since been removed.

Millinocket Regional Hospital hasn't posted about any data breaches on its website or reported any to HHS. Becker's reached out to the hospital for comment.

"Was there really a breach?" databreaches.net asked. "Did the hospital pay a ransom demand or is there some other explanation for the listing disappearing?"

RansomHub has been involved in some large healthcare cyberattacks of late, including hacks of Change Healthcare and the Florida Department of Health.
