Michigan health system reschedules surgeries after IT outage

A Michigan health system is rescheduling elective procedures following an IT outage that began Aug. 5.

Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care is also asking that patients bring printed records, such as physician orders or lab results, to their visits, according to an Aug. 6 Facebook post by the health system. Patients are being advised to come in for appointments unless they've been notified otherwise.

"We understand this situation may be frustrating to our patients — and to our team members — and we deeply and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the health system stated. "We kindly ask for your patience while our caregivers and support teams work as diligently as ever to provide our communities the care they need and deserve."

McLaren Health Care did not disclose the cause of the IT interruption. The health system has 13 hospitals across Michigan.
