Kentucky hospital hit with IT disturbance, experiences EHR downtime

Elizabethtown, Ky.-based Hardin Memorial Hospital reverted to manual operations over the weekend after experiencing a disturbance to its IT systems April 5, WAVE, an NBC affiliate, reports.

Patient care was not affected by the disruption, which caused EHR downtime. Hardin Memorial Hospital called in extra staff to perform manual processes while its systems were down.

"The HMH IT team has secured and restored many systems so far and all services, including the HMH Care First urgent care centers, are open for care including the HMH Emergency Department," Hardin Memorial Hospital Vice President Tracee Troutt said in a statement to WAVE. "At no time during this event has the quality and safety of patient care been affected."
