IT and phone systems went down Jan. 31 at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, causing appointments to be delayed and parents unable to access MyChart.
Patients' family members posted on Facebook about their kids' procedures and appointments being held late or canceled, and otherwise not being able to get a hold of the hospital for more information.
"Our information management team is working nonstop to resolve this outage as quickly and effectively as possible," Lurie Children's told Becker's in a statement late Jan. 31 via Facebook Messenger. "We have been in communication with patient-families, hospital staff, and community providers to provide guidance during this period as we work to restore our systems. Providing our people with the support they need to continue providing safe and effective care for our patients remains our top priority."
Some parents noted in the posts that they were particularly apprehensive about the unknowns because they planned to travel in from other states and stay the night.
