How Mass General Brigham is combating cyberattacks

Mass General Brigham has implemented new technical tools to limit employee emails and filter out unusual attachments as a preventive measure against cyberattacks, according to a Business Insider report.

Chief Security Officer Jigar Kadakia said the 15-hospital health system's strategy to prevent cyberattacks includes:

· Retraining staff on phishing tactics during the pandemic
· Issuing warning banners on top of emails from external senders
· Vetting URLs within messages before they hit employee inboxes
· Vetting new devices through a risk intelligence firm

He warned of cybercriminals revamping their messaging to appear as experts on COVID-19 or to exploit protocols for remote employees.

"Individuals are the weakest links, and if they're not properly trained, they're going to be susceptible," Mr. Kadakia said.
