Detroit-based Henry Ford Health has agreed to a $700,000 settlement over a data breach lawsuit.
The health system faced the class-action complaint after a 2023 cyberattack in which a hacker may have gained access to the information of about 168,000 patients, including names, dates of birth, lab results, procedure types, and diagnoses. While Henry Ford Health did not admit wrongdoing, class members can receive up to $2,500 each and a year of free credit monitoring and identity theft insurance. The final approval hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29.
"Protecting and safeguarding our patients' privacy and personal health information is a responsibility we take very seriously," a Henry Ford Health spokesperson told Becker's. "Beyond that, we will not be commenting on this case."
