Healthcare organizations are at a disadvantage when it comes to protecting themselves from hackers as only 6 percent of their IT budgets are dedicated to cybersecurity, BankInfoSecurity reported April 14.
The publication cited a survey from the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society that asked 159 healthcare security professionals about challenges they faced.
Some of these challenges included recruiting and retaining cybersecurity talent, lack of hands-on cybersecurity training, and lack of budget for cybersecurity needs.
This information reaffirms the information Moody's found, which suggests that healthcare is 'cyber poor' and that the industry will need to increase its cybersecurity investments to protect patient data and ensure continuity of critical operations.
