A report from Fortified Health found that 78 percent of healthcare data breaches in 2022 were from hackers, up from 45 percent in 2018, SecurityIntelligence reported May 1.
The second biggest cybersecurity threat to healthcare, unauthorized access, was responsible for 16 percent of data breaches. By comparison, 38 percent of data breaches in 2018 were caused by unauthorized access.
Additionally, theft, loss and improper data disposal were responsible for data breaches.
