Hackers access North Dakota hospital's network

An unauthorized party has obtained access to Cavalier, N.D.-based Pembina County Memorial Hospital's internal network.

Pembina learned that an unauthorized party accessed its network April 13, 2023, according to a notification on the hospital's website. An investigation is ongoing, but the hospital said it believes patient and employee data has been compromised.

According to Pembina, the employee and patient information that may have been compromised includes demographic information, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's license/state IDs, financial account information, addresses, phone numbers, patient identification numbers, health insurance information and medical information.

The hospital said it does not believe the compromised information has been misused; however, it is telling employees and patients to be vigilant on that front.

Pembina did not state how many individuals were affected.
