The Federal CIO Council will hold the first-ever governmentwide IT and cybersecurity recruiting event in Silver Spring, Md., this November in hopes to "fill critical skills gaps," reports The Hill.
The announcement comes amid government agencies' and departments' struggle to fill IT positions, as well as the Trump administration's challenges recruiting and retaining top talent.
The departments of Defense, Homeland Security, HHS and Office of Personnel Management are planning to send recruiters to the event, senior administration officials said Sept. 14, according to The Hill.
The government plans to advertise open positions on USAJOBS. Interested applicants must register to attend the event by Oct. 15.
