The FBI has launched an investigation into the cybersecurity incident happening at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, CBS reported Feb. 7.
In a statement to the news outlet, the FBI said: "FBI Chicago is aware of the recent cybersecurity incident affecting Lurie Children's Hospital and is utilizing all available investigative tools and resources to provide assistance. As always, our attention remains on ensuring the safety of our citizens and our nation's critical infrastructure. There is no additional information available for release at this time."
The cause of the cybersecurity incident is still unknown.
The incident, which began Feb. 1., forced Lurie Children's to take its network systems offline, such as its phone, email and electronic records.
