Rocky Hill, Conn.-based Starling Physicians mailed letters to an undisclosed number of patients Nov. 12 about a security incident that may have exposed patient information, according to local news station Fox61.
Starling Physicians discovered in February that employee email accounts were targeted in a phishing attack. Promptly, the group secured the email accounts and hired a forensic security firm to investigate the incident.
Patient data that may have been exposed included names, addresses, dates of birth, passport numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information, health insurance information and billing information.
Starling Physicians recommends patients review their financial statements as well as claims made to insurers for any unauthorized activity.
