TechShielder, a cybersecurity and technology review company, on Dec. 5 provided Becker's with a list of the most cybersecurity-conscious states, revealing California in the top spot.
The list is based on the prevalence of Google searches for cybersecurity terms, such as "VPN" and "clear cache," in each state. According to TechShielder's data, California had approximately 301 searches for security-related phrases per 100,000 people every month.
West Virginia, meanwhile, was the least security-conscious state, with a little more than 132 searches for security-related phrases per 100,000 people each month.
