Watsonville (Calif.) Community Hospital reported an IT disruption Nov. 29, forcing the hospital into downtime procedures, according to Lookout Santa Cruz.
The 106-bed hospital reverted to paper records after its computer networks went down, affecting the hospital's internet, EHR and prescription notifications. Watsonville Community is working with third-party IT specialists to investigate the outage.
Watsonville Community continued to provide inpatient and outpatient services during the disruption and patients are still able to access medical records, according to the report. The emergency room remained open.
The hospital is working to restore computer systems as quickly as possible.
Watsonville Community has not confirmed whether the outage was the result of a cyberattack. Cyberattacks have ticked up in recent years, with several large and small systems hit in 2024.
