Boxes of patient medical records were discovered in dumpster near a Southfield, Mich., building that is home to several medical practices, according to local Fox affiliate WJBK.
A man who was throwing away trash was surprised to find the patient records, with some boxes labeled biohazard. It remains unclear which medical practice the records came from, but some patient data dates back to 2004.
Along with the medical records, there were metal containers that apparently held blood pathogens in the dumpster, the witness told WJBK.
When the news station contacted Southfield police, they were unaware of the incident, but planned to follow up.
