In the coming weeks, the Biden administration is set to unveil regulations aimed at enhancing cybersecurity across the healthcare sector, GovInfoSecurity reported June 20.
The regulations will initially focus on hospitals, requiring them to implement minimum cybersecurity standards based on performance goals outlined by HHS in January.
Deputy national security adviser Anne Neuberger highlighted these measures during an event in Washington, D.C., hosted by news outlet Semafor. She noted that the administration collaborated with healthcare sector groups and cybersecurity experts to develop the regulations, which are expected to be released soon.
Ms. Neuberger emphasized the need for heightened cybersecurity in healthcare, describing it as one of the most vulnerable of all critical infrastructure sectors.
"After COVID, it was a difficult time. More systems were rolled in. So, hospitals really do need to focus and double down on security," she said at the event.
