St. Louis-based Ascension has started holding meetings with partners and vendors to discuss reconnecting to the health system's network following a May 8 cyberattack.
The 140-hospital system said May 21 the regular "touchpoints" will provide important information about restoring connections after Ascension took its IT systems offline and encouraged vendors to disconnect because of the hack.
"Ascension continues to work with industry-leading cybersecurity experts to investigate the recent ransomware attack and to rebuild and restore our systems securely," the health system said in a statement. "While this process continues in earnest, our hospitals and facilities remain open and are providing care."
Many Ascension locations, however, continue to operate on downtime procedures, using paper-based medical records while the IT network is down.
