Amazon registered three additional cryptocurrency-related domains Oct. 31, suggesting the e-commerce giant may be preparing its entrance into the cryptocurrency arena, CNBC reports.
However, Amazon Pay's Vice President Patrick Gauthier told CNBC last month the company didn't have any plans to expand into cryptocurrency, citing limited demand for the technology.
The newest domains are: amazonethereum.com, amazoncryptocurrency.com, amazoncryptocurrencies.com. Three years ago the company purchased amazonbitcoin.com, but now the site immediately redirects visitors to amazon.com.
