7 hospitals suffering data breaches

A data breach can have a serious impact on a hospital's financial and reputational well-being.

Here are seven hospitals reporting data breaches Becker's has reported on since March 15:

  1. Bowman, N.D.-based Southwest Healthcare Services reported a data breach involving personal information.

  2. Tallahassee (Fla.) Memorial HealthCare suffered a security attack that compromised patients' Social Security numbers and treatment information.

  3. Data was leaked from Amarillo-based Northwest Texas Healthcare System when a phishing campaign compromised its consulting company, Adelanto HealthCare Ventures.

  4. Berlin, Md.-based Atlantic General Hospital notified patients that some of their data might have been compromised after a ransomware attack.

  5. One million patient records were affected by an attack on Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.

  6. A UC San Diego Health vendor transmitted personal health information to third-party service providers.

  7. Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health suffered a data breach after an unauthorized party gained access to an employee's email account.
