Seymour, Ind.-based Schneck Medical Center's computer system is still down on the ninth day since a cyberattack hit, a spokesperson for the hospital told Becker's Oct. 7
Three details:
- The hospital discovered it was the victim of a cyberattack Sept. 29 and had to suspend all IT systems. Schneck Medical Center said most of its services are unaffected, and patients should arrive for scheduled services and appointments unless otherwise contacted.
- Hospital employees have had to revert to using paper and pen to minimize disrupting hospital operations, WKKG reported Oct. 7.
- "We are bringing systems back online as safely as possible, prioritizing systems such as our electronic medical record that best serve our patients," the spokesperson told Becker's Oct. 7. "While we are making significant progress, we can’t fully anticipate the required time frames to recover all systems, and some operations may be restored sooner than others."
