1 in 4 workers worry technology will steal their jobs, survey finds

The evolution of technology and job automation has left 27 percent of U.S. workers feeling threatened regarding job security, according to a CNBC/SurveyMonkey poll.

The CNBC/SurveyMonkey Workplace Happiness Index asked 8,864 U.S. workers about their thoughts on job satisfaction and how technology impacts their feelings.

Three survey insights:

1. When asked how much technology is threatening their job, 20 percent of survey participants said, "somewhat," while 7 percent said, "very much."

2. While 7 percent of survey participants said they feel like they are falling behind in keeping up with technology and innovation at work, most participants (60 percent) said they are "about average" in staying up-to-date on the latest technology, and 32 percent of participants said they are "ahead of the curve."

3. Of the respondents who said they felt like they are falling behind with new technology, 44 percent said they have considered quitting their job in the past three months.
