Washington health system invests $14.8M in employee pay, bonuses

To retain workers, Yakima (Wash.) Valley Memorial is investing $14.8 million in employee compensation and bonuses.

The investment, which will affect about 3,000 employees, includes the following, according to a news release shared with Becker's:

  • Retention bonuses for registered nurses, respiratory therapists, certified nursing assistants and phlebotomists who work at the bedside
  • Gratitude bonuses for all Memorial employees
  • An increase in the base pay rate for RNs and respiratory therapists

"I can't think of a better way to invest the recent CARES funding that Memorial received," Carole Peet, Memorial CEO, said in a news release. "The high demand for healthcare workers will have an impact on the industry for years to come. Retaining these crucial workers will allow us to continue to provide outstanding care to the Yakima Valley community."
