While Upper Chesapeake Health in Havre de Grace, Md., lost nearly $70 million in the derivatives markets two years ago, the hospital system was still paying its CEO more than $900,000 in annual salary and bonuses, according to an Explore Hartford report.
According to the report, Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air and Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace posted a combined loss of $61 million in the fiscal year ending Dec. 2008.
The two hospitals also paid some of the highest salaries in the area, led by CEO Lyle Sheldon, who made more than $900,000 in 2009.
