In 2012, roughly 86 percent of hospital and healthcare CEOs received a car or car allowance as a perquisite, according to a recent national healthcare executive benefits survey from Integrated Healthcare Strategies.
Cars and car allowances continue to be the most prevalent perquisite, although many other perks like country club dues and spousal travel have been on the decline.
Other findings from Integrated Healthcare Strategies' survey include:
• Most healthcare organizations give executives 100 percent of their salary during a short-term disability period.
• The median salary of a hospital or healthcare executive during a long-term disability is 60 percent.
• Seventy percent of respondents said they give their senior executives an employer-funded, nonqualified retirement plan in addition to a qualified plan.
