Silver Cross to spend over $10M in employee raises

New Lennox, Ill.- based Silver Cross Hospital plans to enhance its rewards program and employee compensation in a move that will affect nearly every employee.

The CMS five-star rated hospital houses 300 beds dedicated to acute care and also operates 10 satellite facilities. In a press release Oct. 6, it stated that the enhancements will total $10 million and include an early merit increase, $15 an hour minimum wage and market-based wage increases.

President and CEO Ruth Colby said: "This is an investment in our most valuable resource: the people who choose to work at our hospital. They take such wonderful care of our patients and our community. This is our way of saying 'your hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. We appreciate you; we care about you, and we thank you.'"

Silver Cross recently hired more than 700 employees, the majority of whom were nurses, to help it continue to navigate the challenges of the pandemic.
