Out of all the different factors that could limit compensation, physicians believe declines in governmental and commercial reimbursement are the most influential, according to a survey from The Medicus Firm.
Almost 2,600 physicians across 20 specialties completed the survey. Here are the nine areas physicians said limits their compensation the most.
• Reimbursement decreases: 31.9 percent
• Personal choice (to work and make less): 11.2 percent
• Payor mix: 8.5 percent
• Patient volume/load: 6.8 percent
• Changes from healthcare reform: 6.2 percent
• Overhead increases: 6 percent
• Inefficiency: 4.6 percent
• Competition with other physicians: 3.1 percent
• Malpractice premium costs: 1.9 percent
