OhioHealth hospital bumps starting pay 14%

OhioHealth Van Wert (Ohio) Hospital increased minimum wage for hospital associates March 17 by $2 to reach $16 per hour.

"The talent of our associates is our greatest asset," Joey Bischoff, president of the hospital, said in a news release. "We are committed to maintaining fair, equitable and consistent pay administration practices. OhioHealth's compensation philosophy supports the goal to attract, motivate and retain associates using market-based pay ranges and practices that reward performance and development."

Around 100 hospital associates will see a pay increase from the new policy, which is part of OhioHealth's commitment to invest more than $1 million in compensation and benefits. The health system is also examining current pay ranges for other jobs across the hospital as well, comparing them to market data.

The pay assessment for Van Wert Hospital and Van Wert Physicians Group will be done in phases over the next six months.
