The former CEO and CFO of Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare received a combined $571,683 in severance pay the year they left the hospital system, according to a Traverse City Record-Eagle report.
Former CEO Douglas Deck — who now works at Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care as senior vice president of operations integration — received $362,560, while former CFO Edward Carlson received $209,123, according to the report. Mr. Deck left Munson Healthcare in early 2010, and Mr. Carlson resigned in 2009, although the hospital did not disclose why either executive left.
"I can tell you what is in the [Form] 990, and anything other than that I am unable to share," said Sue Peters, Munson Medical Center's vice president of human resources, in the report.
The severance totals do not include bonuses or supplemental pension payments, as Mr. Deck received more than $1.6 million in other compensation after he left.
