Hospital Workers See Pay Raises, Bonuses

Various hospitals across the country are doling out pay raises to staff members, even as some still struggle financially, according to reports.

Erlanger Health System has suggested $4 million in raises for the system's 4,200 employees, giving a 2 percent pay increase across the board, according to a Times Free Press report. The raise still needs approval from hospital trustees and follows $3.5 million in raises to 1,100 beside nurses implemented in July.

The across-the-board raise at Erlanger excludes 17 executive-level managers, from the vice president level up, according to the report.

Houston Healthcare's more than 2,000 employees will be eligible for merit pay raises of up to 2 percent, following approval by the system's board of directors. Around $1.8 million has been budgeted for raises, according to a Warner Robins Patriot report.

WakeMed, a hospital system based in Raleigh, N.C., will distribute $7.65 million in bonuses to most of its 7,000-plus employees after exceeding annual financial goals. Checks worth about 2 percent of employees' yearly salaries will go out on Dec. 3.
