Healthcare CEOs were paid more than executives in other industries last year, according to an analysis by the Associated Press and pay research firm Equilar.
The median pay for healthcare CEOs was $12.3 million last year, up 13 percent from 2012, according to the report. That's more than CEOs in the financial, industrial goods, basic materials, consumer goods, technology, services and utilities industries.
CEOs in the utilities industry earned the least, with median pay of $7.9 million in 2013, according to the report.
