CFO Compensation of the 25 Top-Grossing Nonprofit Hospitals

Forty percent of the CFOs at the nation's 25 highest-grossing nonprofit hospitals received at least $1 million in total compensation in 2011 or 2012.

According to the most recent IRS Form 990s filed by each hospital, CFOs at some of the largest hospitals earned anywhere from a low of $423,000 to a high of $2.29 million. Overall, the 25 CFOs collected about $24.2 million, equating to an average payday of approximately $967,000.

Here are the compensation figures of those hospitals' CFOs. Names and figures are presented in order based on the organization's rank in the most recent Becker's Hospital Review list of "50 Top-Grossing Nonprofit Hospitals."

Note: All compensation figures include base salaries, bonuses, incentives, deferred compensation and other reportable compensation from the institution's Form 990. Figures are based on the most recently filed Form 990 as posted on Guidestar. Hospitals that are part of systems and did not list data for individual CFOs are represented by the health system CFO.
